Description

O-rings are used to block a path which may otherwise allow a liquid or a gas to escape. The o ring is placed into a groove to secure them in place, and then compressed between two surfaces. When the system comes under pressure, the o ring is squeezed against the opposite wall of the groove, maintaining a perfect seal even under very high or low pressures.

We stock them in 4 types:

NBR: Standard use. Common in automotive parts due to fuel/oil/etc resistance that ordinary rubber does not have. Can be used for moderate temperatures (-40°C to 121°C)

Viton: Great for high temp (-29°C to 204°C). In general, this material is compatible with hydrocarbons, but incompatible with acetones, ketones, steam, hot water, and organic acids.

Silicone: Generally non-reactive, stable, and resistant to extreme environments. It can be used in extreme temperatures (-60°C to 232°C) while still maintaining its useful properties. Silicone’s temperature tolerance helps it avoid brittleness in freezing conditions and maintain its dimensional tolerance at extremely high temps.

EPDM: EPDM rubber is suitable for used in extreme cold temperatures and is resistant to steam (-51°C to 150°C). Also used for and outdoor applications, hot water, direct sunlight/UV, silicone oils and greases, dilute acids, ketones, alkalis, and automotive brake fluids. It also makes an excellent electrical insulator.

They also come in different hardnesses:

Standard NBR and EPDM is 70, and 90 is harder

Standard Viton is 75, and 90 is harder

Standard Silicone is 70, and 80 is harder
